Bursary Details

In Cenfri’s quest to develop South African researchers for African development, they’re seeking intellectually curious postgraduate students who have a passion for real-world development.

You’ll do exciting applied analysis, engage with key stakeholders and play a role in achieving real-world impact and contributing to the fundamentals of welfare-enhancing digitalised economies.

Candidate Requirements

  • Being on track to enter a one-year, or your final year of a Masters-level qualification in economics or related fields
  • A strong interest in research-related activities and a passion for development
  • An overall GPA of 65% or higher, in the current or most recent academic year of enrolment at a higher education institution
  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced English language skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Good quantitative and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Stata and the analysis of household survey data (advantageous)
  • Employment Equity candidates

  • South African citizens

Bursary Inclusion

  • Financial support for your studies (tuition and a monthly stipend)
  • A dedicated mentor to guide you through the academic year
  • The opportunity to gain work experience while studying, through at least six weeks of paid internship time onsite at Cenfri’s offices in Durbanville and through remote work
  • Good prospects to join our team of research analysts full-time after graduation and on successful completion of the programme
