Requirements for Eligibility

To qualify for the Fire Fighter Learnership Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a Grade 12 qualification, with Mathematics and Physical Science preferred.
  • Be medically and physically fit, with no fear of confined spaces or heights.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team and handle stressful situations.
  • Have no criminal record.
  • Successfully complete the required training courses, including Firefighter 1, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, and First Aid Level 3.
  • Pass a series of physical fitness tests, including a reach test, a 1.5 km run, push-ups, sit-ups, and a dead weight carry.

  • Original National Senior Certificate (NSC) or National Certificate (NSC FET Colleges).
  • National Certificate (NSC FET Colleges) (Vocational).
