Job Description –

There is an exciting opportunity to join Nando’s Marketing Department as the Research Insights Manager IMEA, based at our Central Kitchen Office (JHB).

Minimum Requirements

  • Education (Formal Qualification Required) Minimum
  • BCom degree or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification (Marketing, Consumer Behaviour) Advantageous
  • Postgraduate Legal Requirements (e.g. Driver’s License, etc.) Detail
  • Driver’s License Experience (Minimum Experience Required) Minimum
  • 5+ years experience in consumer insights and data analysis role (FMCG, retail, or research agency)
  • Experience in the application of qualitative and quantitative research processes Advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop the research strategy and framework to support business growth and development

Set up and manage structures and tools to gain insights into the market, consumers, and how Nando’s performs in the context of the market

Establish an ongoing tracking of Nando’s performance relative to the market through market share reporting, Brand health trackers, and benchmark studies

Collaborate to define and prioritize all consumer research projects to ensure that all research is strategic, actionable, efficient, and cost-effective

Plan, scope, and develop budgets for research initiatives according to business requirements

Co-develop the South African marketing strategy by reporting on consumer research insights as well as market trends and information

Develop an annual insights roadmap by determining the core consumer learning needs of the Marketing team

Provide input into the integrated marketing plan through insights on product, pricing, place, and promotion as gained through market research

Input into product pricing through market tracking and consumer research as well as pricing modeling techniques

Establish process and evaluation of new product innovation testing (concept, propensity to purchase, size opportunity, taste-testing)

Analyze data to compile and interpret research reports for various internal stakeholders

Manage all aspects of market research projects, including formulating research briefs, evaluating research proposals, assessment, drafting questionnaires, and setting project plans

Provide stakeholder groups with progress updates on research initiatives and plans

Provide training and guidance in the use of research results and approaches across various internal business units

Provide input into Nando’s marketing campaigns through tracking of competitor campaigns and media spending; as well as the performance of Nando’s campaigns in terms of awareness, media efficiency, and campaign creative

Manage research project costs and relationships with Suppliers

Develop and manage the total Marketing Research budget

Monitor and track the macro-economic environment and market trends, including product innovation, media spending, pricing analysis, and share of voice

Participate in the integration of information from multiple research sources

Examine market information and consumer polls to locate niche areas in the marketplace and to allow marketers to base their decisions on research-backed data points and consumer insights

Interpret POS and menu sales reporting for insights that will inform scorecard and pricing decisions

Enhance business performance through customer satisfaction tracking – set up a customer satisfaction tracking system and manage the program

Analyze Mystery shopper data, investigate findings and propose new solutions, develop & implement, manage

Ongoing customer tracking

Apply updated approaches to monitor customer satisfaction and business tools to support and provide feedback

Create approaches and platforms for use in restaurants to live track customer experiences

Provide input into business strategy through the analysis of external and internal data to give meaningful customer insights and input into overall business and marketing strategy and identification of new business opportunities

Create a casa segmentation model to understand the different purchase behaviors and marketing opportunities in different locations

Manage data analysis projects to understand business performance and drivers of sales performance

Conduct ad-hoc research and give input into bigger business projects like service channels and casa locations.

Participate in global research and strategy projects (Brand identity & Vi, grocery, purpose, channels)

Obtain a good understanding of new markets and conduct feasibility studies when required

Set up research studies and track studies in new markets when required

Scope data warehouse project, acting as the liaison between IT and the business for new reporting and data requirements

Play an active role in business BI and data requirements as well as the integrity of data
Create a scoping document for marketing requirements for BI and data needs
Train people on data principles as well as set up Power BI training for the team

Understand POPI legislation and implement a process to upkeep requirements to safeguard consumer person details with research providers, Customer Care, T2N integration, and SMS and email campaigns with the Regional Marketing team

Drive additional information and integration into IT systems/data warehouse such as store type classification to analyze data better

Set up processes in campaigns to protect and use customer data

Manage all corporate-owned research platforms

Package research platforms and services for Global Markets
