No more SASSA Srd R350 Grant starting from 1 April 2024

This Is Your Last R350 Grant Payment

Millions of people rely on the R350 grant to survive every month. The agency responsible for paying the grant has confirmed that this is the last month beneficiaries will receive a R350 grant payment.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) expects to pay the R350 grant to around nine million people in March 2024. However, this will be the last time these nine million people receive R350 grant payments from Sassa, ever.

Last week, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant will be increased.

The SRD grant was commonly referred to as the R350 grant due to its monetary value the beneficiaries of the SRD grant will begin receiving R370. This means the R350 grant is being increased by R20 or 5.7%.

Subject to the finalisation of the comprehensive social security, we will increase the R350 [grant] to R370.

Gondongwana described the increase as “the realisation of the basic rights of our people”.
When The SRD Grant Is Increased
Following the minister’s announcement that the SRD grant will be increased by R20 per month, many grant beneficiaries will be wondering when they will be receiving the new SRD grant payment of R370.
Beneficiaries for the SRD grant will be paid R370 beginning in April 2024. This means that March 2024 is the last month SRD grant beneficiaries will be paid R350.
Impact Of The SRD Grant
During the 2024 State of The Nation Address (SONA), President Cyril Ramaphosa praised the impact of the grant arguing that it does not only provide people with what they need to survive but also serves as an investment in their future.
In the midst of the pandemic, we introduced the SRD Grant which currently reaches some 9 million unemployed people every month.
